ROLAND OLBETER (Hannover, Germany)

Scenographer and rob art. Lives and works in Barcelona since 1988.

Formally trained as a concert violinist and naval constructor, has worked extensively for the theater, the opera, as well as for sound and movement installations.

His work has a technical sophistication most uncommon in the visual art and theatre. He is a Maat Collective Member together with Franc Aleu and Pere Tantiñá. His work focuses on the creation of impossible artifacts. He has collaborated in multiple Scenography from the Barcelona Olympic games in 92,in which he worked together with La Fura Dels Baus to collaborations with Bigas Luna, Marcel·lí Antúnez, Jaume Plensa, Alfred Arribas, Enric Miralles, and Xavier Mariscal among others. He has designed the main pieces for La Fura dels Baus´ Naumón ship now on a world tour. Currently working on the second edition of Soundclusters, a show performed by musical robots.
